Valentine’s Day with Farfetch

February 7, 2016 | 2 Comments

Farfetch is running a contest for Valentine’s Day looks featuring styles from their site, so of course I had to participate. I put together two looks for you and your girlfriends, and the good news is, neither of them scream “Valentine’s Day”, so they’re adaptable to normal day situations as well. Click the images for more information on each item.

For my first look, I decided to go for a more quirky vibe with awesome one-of-a-kind pieces like the winking iPhone case and the giant red-lip sweater (I’m pretty sure it sparkles too). The strappy top and powder pink accessories make this look super cute and flirty without being over-the-top.

The second look is more vampy, featuring a burgundy collared shirt-dress and plenty of black and gold accessories. The heeled booties and wide-brimmed hat pull the look together without making it too dressy. Perfect for a girls night out.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I was all about the sleeveless coats right now. Now that I have one in black and one in brown, I’m set for the season… until winter comes and my arms freeze off :(

Black Friday / Cyber Monday: Sales and Deals

November 26, 2015 | 1 Comment

Happy Thanksgiving! It seems like every year Black Friday shopping creeps up earlier and earlier. I remember the days when people would wait in line at 5:00AM for stores to open their doors. Those were exciting days, because let’s face it, when else were you crazy enough to give up your precious food coma sleep after 845471 pounds of turkey to wait outside in the cold? Flash forward a couple of years and now stores like JCPenney are starting their Black Friday festivities at 3:00PM Thanksgiving Day. What?! I’m sorry, let me just put down this gourmet meal I’m cooking / watching other people cook and come do my holiday shopping.

Thankfully an awesome little day called Cyber Monday exists, where there are no crowds hungover from turkey overdose, and that’s where I spend most of my time looking for things I need want. But since it is Thanksgiving, and Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a huge kickstart to the holiday shopping season, and this is a fashion blog, I’ve put together a nice list of stores / brands that are having sales this week (mostly online, but a few of these might work in stores as well). I’ll keep adding to this as I find more sales, but in the meantime if I’ve missed anything please share it in the comments below!

Burn to gold and crumble away

One of my favorite trends this fall is the sleeveless coat. They’re great layering pieces and are so versatile in your wardrobe. I recently got this camel colored one (camel colored things is definitely another one of my favorite trends) and a black one that I’ve been wearing non-stop. They provide just enough warmth for the California fall, and if it gets a little chilly at night, you can easily throw on a real coat without all the bulk.

The prettiest of lights

Winter is finally here. Well, by “winter” I mean it’s finally below 70 degrees, something I was looking forward to when it was 90 in October. Now that it’s actually fall/winter, I’m reminded of how useless the Texan in me is during the cold months. Being from the south, I don’t really own proper winter clothes (not that I need them out here in California), so I usually resort to using anything I can as a blanket to keep me warm. Thank goodness for giant scarves and turtleneck dresses.
